Influence of Artichoke (Cynara scolymus) Leaf Powder on Growth Performance, Carcass Traits and Blood Parameters in Broiler Chickens
Authors
Abstract:
The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary artichoke supplementation on performance, carcass traits and some blood parameters of broiler chickens. A total of 300, one day old broiler chicks (Ross-308) were randomly allocated to 1 of 4 dietary treatments including: basal diet (control), basal diet supplemented with 1.5 or 3 percent of Artichoke powder and also with 300 mg/kg diet vitamin E. Each diet was offered to 5 replicates of 15 birds each for 42 days. Supplementation of 3 percent artichoke powder significantly (P

full textEffects of Chicory Powder and Butyric Acid Combination on Performance, Carcass Traits and some Blood Parameters in Broiler Chickens
The objective of this study was to determine the effect of different levels of chicory root and stem powder (CRSP) and butyric acid (BA) combination on the performance, carcass traits, relative weight of internal organs and some blood parameters in broiler chickens. Two hundred and forty one-day-old broilers (Ross 308) were used in a completely randomized design with four treatments with six re...
full textEffect of Different Levels of Artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) Leaf Powder on the Performance and Meat Quality of Japanese Quail
A total of 240 Japanese quail chicks (1 d old) were used in a 42-d trial to study the effects of Artichoke leaf powder and vitamin E on growth performance and meat quality. This experiment was performed as a completely randomized design with 4 replicates of 15 quails in each, using a 4×2 factorial arrangement with diet and gender as the main effects. Four dietary treatments were formulated by a...

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of feeding electron irradiated flaxseed (FS) on performance, carcass characteristics, blood parameters, digesta viscosity, and nutrient digestibility in broiler chickens. In a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement, 320 day-old broiler chicks were randomly assigned to one of five experimental diets, each with four replicates containing 16 chicks e...

full textThe influence of supplementation with artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) extract on selected redox parameters in rowers.
High-intensity physical exercise decreases intracellular antioxidant potential. An enhanced antioxidant defense system is desirable in people subjected to exhaustive exercise. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of supplementation with artichoke-leaf extract on parameters describing balance between oxidants and antioxidants in competitive rowers. This double-blinded study was...
